Conditions
Wind
Taiwan's windy season runs from October through March, with peak conditions between November and February. Expect 20-25 windy days per month, with winds consistently reaching 25+ knots. The Taiwan Strait acts as a natural wind tunnel, creating excellent conditions for windsurfing. All spots on the west coast are side-shore, which is great for wave riding and jumping. Typical sail sizes range from 3.2m² to 4.5m².
Waves
The west coast is known for its consistent, well-formed wind swells, often reaching head-high or larger. Piers and harbour structures clean up the waves, making for smooth, rideable faces at many spots. The tidal range is significant—over 4 meters—so both wave quality and which spots are working can change dramatically with the tide.
